Good research starts at the source. We work from original filings, reported financials, and earnings transcripts, so you can follow every claim back to its origin.
Beyond the price
The chart tells you what.
The research tells you why.
You bought every position for a reason. Keeping track of whether that reason still holds takes more than watching a price move.
A new risk factor. A revised outlook. A number management quietly stopped reporting. The important changes are often buried in a filing, long before they show up in the chart.
We bring those changes into view. Each holding gets a research file, a timeline of developments, and a place in your daily brief. You get the context to revisit your thinking without starting from scratch.
See what changed. Know why. Decide for yourself.
What it does
A little more perspective. A lot less legwork.
Every one of them runs against the primary documents. Every claim links back to the paragraph it came from.
Portfolio view
The whole portfolio. One clear picture.
Connect a brokerage account read-only, import a CSV, or add your tickers. the charting company brings your positions, weights, cost basis, and performance into one view. Coverage follows your holdings as they change.
The Morning Brief
Start the day with the changes that matter.
A short brief on your holdings, ready at 5:30am ET. Filings, earnings, and material news are brought together with the source beside each claim. A quiet day gets a quiet brief.
Position Files
Keep the story behind every position current.
A living research file for each company: its business, financials, capital structure, open questions, and recent developments. Charts put the numbers in perspective; a dated timeline shows how the story has changed.
Filing Diff
Find the meaningful changes in the fine print.
Compare annual reports, quarterly filings, proxies, and registration statements side by side. See what was added, removed, or materially reworded, with routine formatting changes filtered out.
Risk Register
Follow a risk from its first mention onward.
Track risk disclosures across filings and see when language strengthens, a new exposure appears, or a familiar warning disappears. Every change stays connected to the original passage.
Call Notes
The earnings call, with room to look closer.
Structured notes on guidance, management commentary, and the questions analysts asked. Compare language with the previous quarter, then search the transcript and read the exact exchange.
News in context
Less repetition. More useful context.
See developments related to your positions with duplicate stories grouped together. Distinguish a change in the business from a wave of commentary about it, and follow the coverage back to its source.
Material Event Alerts
Choose what deserves your attention.
Set rules for new filings, guidance revisions, insider transactions, auditor changes, and emerging risks. Each alert includes its source document and the passage that triggered it.
Research assistant
Ask a question. Follow the evidence.
Ask across the companies in your portfolio in plain language. Answers draw from your coverage documents and link factual claims to specific passages. When the sources cannot support an answer, the assistant says so.
Memos & Export
Take your research with you.
Export research files, filing comparisons, and call notes as PDF or DOCX with citations intact. Use CSV for the underlying data, or connect through the read-only API. Desk plans add firm branding and disclosure blocks.
How it works

Why you can use it
Every sentence has to prove where it came from.
Language models are confident in a way that has nothing to do with being correct. Our position is that a research tool which can't show its sources isn't a research tool, it's a rumour with good typography.
So the charting company retrieves the relevant passages before it writes anything, generates only from those passages, anchors every factual sentence to a specific span in a specific document, and then runs a second pass that re-checks each claim against its citation. Claims that don't verify get removed, not hedged.
It still gets things wrong sometimes. That's exactly why the citation is one click from the original paragraph — so you can check us, quickly, whenever it matters.
Who it's for
For people who want to understand what they own.
Self-directed investors
You hold twenty-something names and you bought each of them for a reason. the charting company keeps track of whether those reasons still hold.
Independent advisers
You have to be able to explain, in writing, why a position is still in the model. the charting company writes the first draft and cites it.
Small funds and family offices
No research budget, no terminal, and a principal who asks about a position at 7am. Now there is an answer waiting.
What the charting company doesn't do
It doesn't trade.
No orders, no routing, no rebalancing, no execution of any kind. Brokerage connections are read-only and we never request trading permissions.
It doesn't hold your money or your securities.
We are not a custodian, a broker-dealer, or a bank. Your assets stay where they are.
It isn't investment advice.
the charting company is not a registered investment adviser and does not provide personalised recommendations. It will not tell you to buy or sell anything, it does not issue ratings or price targets, and it has no opinion on what you should own.
It doesn't predict prices.
There is no model here forecasting where a stock is going. There is a system that reads documents and reports what they say.
It doesn't replace the filing.
Every claim links to the source. When something matters, read the source. We built the citations so you can.
It isn't always right.
It reads a great deal of text and occasionally misreads some of it. That is why nothing is published without a citation, and why every citation is one click from the original paragraph.

Research
Notes from the charting company.
How we read companies, check our sources, and turn a stack of filings into a clearer view.
Why the charting company will never give you a price target
Coverage and prediction are different products. We are only building one of them, and the reasons are partly epistemic and partly regulatory.
Jun 25, 2026Earnings call sentiment is mostly noise. Here is the part that is not.
Prepared remarks are written by IR, reviewed by counsel, and optimised to score well. Measuring their tone measures a communications department. The Q&A is a different document.
May 14, 2026Reading a 10-K in twenty minutes: the seven places changes actually show up
Re-reading a filing for a company you already own is a different task from reading one for the first time. You are not reading for comprehension. You are reading for delta.
Questions
The ones we get asked most.
Is the charting company financial advice?
No. the charting company is a research tool. It reads public documents and reports what they say. It is not a registered investment adviser or a broker-dealer, it does not issue ratings, price targets or recommendations, and it has no view on what you should own. Every decision is yours.
Do you connect to my brokerage account, and can you trade?
We connect through SnapTrade or Plaid, both read-only. the charting company can see your positions and transactions. It cannot place trades, move cash, change account settings or take any action in your account, because we never request those permissions. You can disconnect at any time, and you can skip the connection entirely and use CSV import or manual entry instead.
Where does the data come from?
SEC EDGAR for filings — full text plus XBRL financial data — along with licensed earnings call transcripts, licensed news feeds, exchange notices and company investor-relations pages. Every claim the charting company makes links back to the specific document and paragraph it came from. Nothing is sourced from an anonymous scrape.
How do you handle the fact that AI models make things up?
By not letting the model answer from memory. the charting company retrieves the relevant passages first, generates only from those passages, anchors every factual sentence to a source span, and then runs a separate verification pass that re-checks each claim against its citation before publishing. Claims that fail are removed rather than softened. It is not perfect — no such system is — which is why the citation is always one click from the original filing.
What happens to my data?
It is yours. Portfolio holdings are encrypted at rest and in transit, are never sold, and are never used to train third-party models. You can export everything or delete your account and all associated data from Settings, and deletion is permanent.
How do I cancel?
In Settings, in one click, without emailing anyone. You keep access through the end of the period you have already paid for. Annual plans are refundable pro rata within 30 days of purchase.
